It’s Canada’s birthday today—Happy 157th!
In 2017, to celebrate the 150th, my husband David and I did a coast-to-coast drive, from St. John’s, Newfoundland, west to Victoria, B.C. Prior to that year, I’d driven parts of it, from Edmonton to Vancouver and back, from Edmonton to London, Ontario, from Toronto to Montreal and Quebec City, but never the entire expanse, from sea to sea, in one go. (And that was just east to west. I’m still pondering north to south, and pouring over the atlas, looking at highways through Yukon and then Alaska.)
I took notes, then made a book. It’s on amazon. Someone asked me the other day why I like road trips.
Even on the curves
The lines are straight and serene
It’s a long meditation
Happy Canada Day!
Love the haiku! Dancing with the cars...
Two national holidays, back-to-back! Two countries, back-to-back. What great planning!
